Saturday was the 38th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision. Over 50 million lives have been lost, but we can't be discouraged by that, we can only be more motivated to continue to share the truth about this terrible reality. It's so frustrating that even though so many lives are being lost everyday, abortion has been so commonplace that we usually don't even talk about it except when that one January day comes around every year.
Maybe the way that many people protest abortion is part of the problem. If you were a teenager that found out she was pregnant and your parents were angry and you and the father of your baby were scared to death of your unknown, and now drastically changed futures, would you be persuaded to change your mind by people standing outside the abortion clinic with signs telling you that you're a murderer and others screaming at you to let you know what a horrible person you are for doing this? It's not that abortion isn't murder, or that it isn't wrong, but even what is true gets ignored if it isn't shared in a loving and encouraging way. Those girls will still go into the clinic and have their child's life taken, they will just feel more terrible and guilty about the whole situation. It is a child and it is a life that should not be taken, but we need to speak the truth in love.
