I Just Don't Get It

I love this video. I've watched it so many times. It's sad, but it's amazing at the same time. I don't know for sure, but I would bet Eliot's parents were given the option to terminate his life after the doctors found out about his health problems. I don't even want to think about the number of babies that were just like Eliot but weren't even given a chance. Even the short time Eliot's parents had with him I'm sure was priceless, and so many parents miss that because they'd rather just get rid of "the tissue" instead of realizing that it's their child. The fact that so many human beings are killed the same way, but not even because of a disability, only because they're seen as "inconvenient" is something my brain just can't handle. I don't understand why somebody would not give up their child for adoption. If people that didn't want their pets anymore stopped giving them away or if they stopped being put in animal shelters and we just killed them all there would be an outrage. Children aren't pets though, they're people. Why is it that the life of a dog or a cat is seen as more valuable than the life of a human being? I don't get it. I just don't get it.
